José de Jesús Muñoz, a dedicated family man, lifelong entrepreneur, and passionate world traveler, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 70 years old.
José was the proud father of five children: Aracely, Abraham, César, Yomaira, and Iván Muñoz, and the cherished grandfather of ten grandchildren: Denisse, Christian, Edgar, Diego, Alina, Regina, Ximena, Landon, Isabella, and Penélope. His unconditional love, wisdom, and devotion will be forever remembered by those who knew him.
Born in San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico, José emigrated to the United States at a young age. He worked tirelessly to support his family and established “El Mestizo,” a thriving business in Chicago. Through his work, he left a lasting impact on the Mexican-American community he proudly served.
Inspired by childhood dreams of exploring the world, José became a passionate traveler whose journeys took him far and wide. He left a meaningful imprint on the places he visited and the lives he touched. His legacy of hard work, integrity, and love will endure through his family and countless others.
A visitation to celebrate José’s life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave., Summit, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Blase Church, 6101 S. 75th Ave., Summit, IL, followed by interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 7201 Archer Rd., Justice, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a cause close to José’s heart. José will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, resilience, and faith will remain an inspiration to all.
