One man was killed and a woman was critically injured after their vehicle collided with another car Sunday night in the West Lawn neighborhood, police said.
Police said a preliminary investigation found a black sedan and a silver sedan were both going north in the 7100 block of South Pulaski Road about 8:30 p.m. The silver sedan tried to move from the outer lane to the inner lane when it was struck in the rear driver’s side by the black sedan.
Police said the driver of the black sedan, a 22-year-old man, then lost control of the vehicle and hit a light post in the median. Both he and an adult female passenger were ejected from their vehicle.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, and the female passenger was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with an injury to one of her legs.
Police said the man driving the silver sedan and an adult female passenger in that vehicle were not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
Area One detectives are investigating the crash.
