
Free tax return preparation for seniors and disabled adults will be provided beginning this month in Evergreen Park.
The service will be offered at the Office of Citizen Services, 3450 W. 97th St. Form limitations will apply. The free tax service is available by appointment only.
Seniors and disabled adults who would like to have the service can call 708-422-8776 or go to the tax-aide site locator at AARP.org to schedule an appointment.
The agenda was light for the Evergreen Park Village Board meeting on Monday night. Mayor Kelly Burke did thank U.S. Rep. Sean Casten (D-6th) for visiting Village Hall and meeting with the board recently.
“We thank Cong. Casten for coming to visit us,” Burke said. “We thank him for taking the time.”
The annual Flake Fest provided free ice skating for youths and adults on Saturday at the Daniel V. Capuano ice rink.
“We had another successful Flake Fest at Yukich Field on Saturday,” Burke said.“It all went well.”
Village Hall, 9418 S. Kedzie Ave., will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Presidents Day. The village board meeting will be rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18.
The next Evergreen Park Senior Council Luncheon will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th St. Rex Newell will provide the entertainment with his antique road show. To register, call 708-422-8776 or drop by the Community Center.
The annual Sip & Sample Fundraiser will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Evergreen Park Library, 9400 S. Troy Ave. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 708-422-8522.
The Citizens Utility Board and the Village of Evergreen Park is hosting a utility bill clinic from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at the Village Hall. Individuals interested can register by emailing skerwin@evpkadm.org.
The next Adult Wine & Sip Paint Nights will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays beginning March 13, at the Community Center. The $40 fee includes all paint supplies, wine, beer and light appetizers. The instructor will be Eileen Gorman.
The village offers mini-bus service to all Evergreen Park seniors or disabled adults. The hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Rides are by appointment only through the Community Center.
Gavin Yeaman, director of the Evergreen Park Public Works Department, is seeking bids for this year’s tree trimming project. The board approved the request for bids by a 5-0 margin. Trustee Carol Kyle could not attend the meeting.
