Edward P. Holliger, 86

Edward P. Holliger, a U.S. Marine veteran and retired Chicago police officer, died at the age of 86.

Holliger served as a Chicago police officer for several decades before retiring. He was a devoted husband to Irene (Tkalec) for 63 years and a loving father to David (Victoria) and Edward (Melissa). He was preceded in death by his sons Alan (Donna) and Donald.

He was a cherished grandfather to Sy, Adam (Kate), Randall, Billie, Matthew, and Anthony, and was preceded in death by his granddaughter Carrie. He was the dear brother of Joan (Don) Talkowski and the late Robert (Sylvia) Holliger.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Richard-Midway Funeral Home, 5749 Archer Ave., Chicago. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
