Two separate DUI arrests in late December and early January brought charges against residents in Orland Park, each stemming from crashes that drew police attention.
On Dec. 28, Helen Husek, 67, of the 7300 block of Evergreen Drive, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after an incident at Pet Supplies Plus, 9430 W. 159th St. Police reported that Husek admitted to crashing into another vehicle at the location and appeared confused. Officers noted the smell of alcohol on her breath. Though she initially agreed to perform sobriety tests, she later refused, leading to her arrest. Husek is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Just over a week later, on Jan. 6, Emily A. Lindgren, 25, of the 9800 block of Treetop Drive, faced DUI charges following a crash in her own neighborhood. Police said Lindgren allegedly crashed into a tree in the 9800 block of Treetop Drive and appeared “out of it” at the scene. After failing sobriety tests, she was arrested. Lindgren is expected to appear in court on Feb. 18, also at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Both incidents serve as reminders of the serious consequences of impaired driving, especially during the holiday season and beyond.
