Chicago police arrested a man in an attempted murder investigation, only to uncover an entirely different crime.

Abraham Jaromahum, 34, of the 8100 block of South Knox Avenue, was taken into custody at his home at 2:36 p.m. on Jan. 10 after being mistakenly identified in a photo lineup as a suspect in an attempted first-degree murder case, authorities said.

Although the misidentification was later dismissed, officers reported making a startling discovery —two bags of methamphetamine in Jaromahum’s possession. As a result, he was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
