Darwin Ray Blake, a longtime resident of Summit, Illinois, and formerly of Palos Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning, December 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old.
Born on April 25, 1937, Darwin was the only son of the late Richard Arnold Blake and Winnie Elizabeth Meeks. He was the devoted husband of Janice Richardson, his beloved wife of 62 years.
Darwin was the cherished father of Sherry Williams, who, along with her husband Mike, blessed him with three devoted grandchildren: Michael Ray, Karsyn, and Connor Williams.
He is survived by his dear sisters, Delola Maciel, Delice Felty (Sonny), and Arrawhanna Yates (Jeff), as well as his sister-in-law Dorothy Bonbrake, wife of the late Bill. Darwin was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, James Richardson (Mary Jane) and Bobby Leroy Richardson (Joyce). He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 23, 2024, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave., Summit, Ill. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Wayne Basch.
With broken hearts, his family bids farewell to Darwin, who faced his physical challenges with dignity and courage. May he rest in eternal peace.
