Rudy N. Salazar, a beloved member of Chicago’s Back of the Yards community, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 15, 2024, at the age of 92. He was surrounded by his loving granddaughter Sandra and her husband, Alex Moreno.
Rudy was the cherished companion of the late Ida Lachtara. He was the dear brother of the late Adeline (the late Howard) Harden, the late Donald (the late Lillian) Salazar, and Naomi (Larzo) Ortiz. He was also a treasured uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. Rudy will be fondly remembered for his kind and gentle ways by John (Georgiana) Lachtara, Sandra Lachtara, Debra (the late Rodrigo) Lopez, John (Deann) Lachtara, Wendy, Loralie, and Grace Lachtara.
Family and friends are invited to honor Rudy’s memory during visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave., Summit, IL. Visitation will continue on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. until the Service in Celebration of Rudy’s life at 10 a.m. Following the service, a procession will travel to St. Mary Cemetery, where Rudy will be laid to rest beside his sweetheart, Ida.
Rudy’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in their hearts.
