Lawrence E. “Larry” Tomklawicz, 64, a longtime resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024.
Larry was the beloved husband of 37 years to his true love, Tamara (née Tkalec), and the cherished father of Heather Button (Donovan) and the late Samantha Tomklawicz.
He is survived by his sister, Roseann Kosowski (Dan); his stepbrothers, Wayne Krzysiak (Joyce) and Kenny Krzysiak (Paula); and his beloved niece and nephew, Melissa DiBari (Matthew) and Kevin Kosowski (Anna). Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Krzysiak and Elmer Tomklawicz.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street, just west of Harlem). A service celebrating Larry’s life will take place at 7 p.m.
Per his wishes, Larry will be cremated.
Larry was an avid NASCAR fan and a technology enthusiast with a talent for gadgets and computers. In his younger years, he was a master percussionist, playing drums in various bands. He will be fondly remembered for his intelligent wit, his love of music, and the joy and laughter he shared with family and friends.
