This fall welcomes a new sport in the Illinois High School Association – girls flag football.
There were 116 schools that signed up for the inarguable season.
From the area, Morton, St. Laurence, Catalyst/Maria, De La Salle, Marist, Mother McAuley, Lyons and Sandburg will be fielding teams in the first year.
The first practices were scheduled to take place Aug. 12. First games are allowed to be plays Aug. 26. The state finals are Oct. 18-19 at Willowbrook High School.
There is a 25-game limit for the regular season.
