In a thrilling election night, the citizens of Orland Park have spoken with a clear and resounding voice, electing Jim Dodge as their new mayor. In a heartfelt address to supporters at his campaign headquarters this evening, Dodge thanked the community for their unwavering support, passion, and commitment to a brighter future for our village.

“This victory is not just about the vote,” said Dodge. “It’s about the people who have dedicated their time, energy, and hopes into making Orland Park a vibrant and welcoming place for all. I am deeply grateful for your trust and overwhelming support.”

Dodge’s victory over incumbent Mayor Keith Pekau by 8,766 votes to 6,534 with all but one precinct reporting marks a pivotal moment in the village’s history, one that signifies change, growth, and new beginnings. As he embarks on this new journey, he emphasized the vital importance of fostering a community-oriented government.

Pekau conceded defeat about 8:30 p.m. at his victory party and said he was “shellacked.”

Sweetening the moment was the victory of the entire Orland Park For All slate which includes Clerk-elect Mary Ryan Norwell and Trustees-elect Dina M. Lawrence, Joanna M. Liotine Leafblad and John Lawler.

“This is the first day, or the onset, to a return to dignity where we will bring back respect, transparency, and civility to Orland Park. Together, we will breathe new life into our community, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Every resident deserves a government that listens and responds to their needs,” Dodge declared.

Dodge outlined several priorities for his administration, including bringing back respect for all residents, repairing fiscal mismanagement, supporting our first responders and increasing community engagement. “We will create an open dialogue where residents feel empowered to share their ideas and concerns. We are all stewards of our community, and together, we can build a connected and inclusive Orland Park,” he added.

Dodge thanked his family, wife Linda, children Ashley and Jimmy for their faith, love and unwavering support. Expressing his gratitude for the exceptional team of volunteers and supporters who worked tirelessly during the campaign, Dodge noted, “This is a team victory, and it is an honor to stand alongside all of you. Together, we have laid the groundwork for a new vision for Orland Park – one that reflects our shared values and aspirations.”

Dodge also committed to maintaining communication with the community throughout his tenure, promising regular updates and opportunities for engagement. “I am excited to get to work alongside our village board and all of you,” he stated. “Let’s harness the spirit of cooperation and work hand-in-hand to make Orland Park a thriving community for generations to come.”
