When the hot weather of summer hits, it will be pleasantly cool and comfortable at The MAX, the indoor sports center operated by the village of McCook.
That’s because at its meeting of March 4, the village board unanimously approved paying $190,400 to Cahill Heating, Cooling, Electric, Plumbing & Sewer Inc. for four new air conditioning units.
“This was a budgeted project for 2025, replacing four units at The MAX. Three of them are 25 tons. The fourth is seven and one-half tons,” Mayor Terrance Carr said during the meeting.
After the meeting, Carr said there are nine rooftop units to cool The MAX. Cahill is based in north suburban Lake Bluff.
“These last four (rooftop units) are from the original building,” the mayor said. “We had five bidders. This was the lowest bidder. The highest bid was $250,000.”.
The MAX recently had a new roof installed to the tune of over $1 million.
In other business, the village board also unanimously approved a three-year deal with MSub Enterprises Inc to lease space for banner advertising inside The MAX.
The agreement runs through March 31, 2028, Carr said.
“This is (on) the north wall of The MAX, a four-by-20 (foot) banner that costs $1,200 each year. Comes to $3,600 (over three years),” Carr said.
There was no other business in a meeting that was completed in four minutes.
