With a snowstorm pending, the Beecher Village Board talked about a warmer topic at its February 11 meeting.
Trustee David Weissbohn gave out the dates and bands for the village’s concert series, which will happen well after the snow melts. All three shows will run from 6 to 9 p.m.
On June 7, the village welcomes the Southtown Soul and Groove band from Crete. Some of the artists the group covers include Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, the Drifters, Tina Turner, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight.
On August 16, One of These Nights performs. This is an Eagles tribute band that focuses on the band itself but also plays solo work from Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Joe Walsh.
On September 6, Juke Box Heroes take the stage. This is an acoustic cover band that plays all over the Chicago area.
It was also announced, as a part of the Fourth of July celebration, the All American Throwbacks will perform on July 3. This group calls itself “the ultimate pop, punk and emo party” and plays songs from groups such as Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and Sum41.
Collecting debt
The board voted to approve an ordinance authorizing the execution of an intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois Office of the Comptroller’s Debt Recovery Program.
Public Safety Committee Chairman Joe Tieri said it will allow more resources at the village’s disposal and noted, “In the event we have somebody who owes us money, we will be able to collect those debts. If someone is found liable and is fined and they don’t pay it, we can collect it through the comptrollers.”
