Officer Jasmine Hernandez Debo, 27, of Chicago, died Feb. 5, 2025.

Born Oct. 11, 1997, Jasmine served with the Chicago Police Department on the South Side, where she was known for her compassion, approachability, and dedication to her community. She took great pride in her work and was committed to making the city a safer place.

Outside of her career, Jasmine had a love for swimming and played water polo throughout high school. She worked as a lifeguard at Oak Street Beach, demonstrating her dedication to helping others. She also had a deep love for animals, especially her husky, Akela, and enjoyed horseback riding in her father’s hometown of Temascaltepec, Mexico. A passionate traveler, she visited destinations across the U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Europe, creating cherished memories with her family.

Jasmine was known for her vibrant personality and love of music and dancing. She was the heart of every gathering, bringing joy and laughter to those around her.

She is survived by her parents, Araceli and Roberto Hernandez; her siblings, Yvonne, Alexander, and Roberto Hernandez Jr.; and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.

Services were held at Szykowny Funeral Home.
