Elena Martinez (née Martinez), beloved wife of Bernardino Aguirre, passed away peacefully. She was the loving mother of Daniel Aguirre and Daisy Aguirre and the cherished grandmother of Amya Rivera, Angel Rivera and Briana Rivera.
Elena was the devoted daughter of Martina Martinez and the late Pascual Martinez. She was the dear sister of Antonio (Aurora) Martinez, Jose (Rosa) Martinez, Sara (Rafael) Padilla, Lilia (Manuel) Guzman, and Roberto Martinez, and was preceded in death by her siblings Sofia Martinez and Uriel Martinez. She was a much-loved aunt to Antonio, Jason, the late Hugo, Fatima, Karina, Lissette, Jose Luis Jr. and Jayden Martinez, as well as Hilda, Rafael Jr., Ezequiel and Giovanni Padilla, and Manuel, Jocelyn and Cynthia Martinez. She was also a fond great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Elena touched many lives with her gracious and giving spirit. She will be forever remembered for her kindness and love. She faced every challenge in her life with courage, dignity and pride.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem). A second visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayers at 10 a.m. A procession followed to St. Gall Church for Mass. Interment took place at Resurrection Cemetery.
May she rest in eternal peace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
