

Winners of the 2024 Lights of Hickory Hills Decorating Contest were recognized during the Jan. 9 city council meeting. One family from each ward earned top honors for their holiday displays, which brought festive cheer to their neighborhoods.
First Ward
- 1st place: Lauren Furlan and Julio Antuenz, 9260 S. 79th Ave.
- 2nd place: Alfonso Lozano, 9411 S. 77th Ave.

Second Ward
- 1st place: Beata Greczek, 9150 S. 86th Court.
- 2nd place: Osborne family, 9138 S. 85th Ave.
Third Ward
- 1st place: Ashley and Michael Shubert, 9027 W. 93rd St.
- 2nd place: Michael Selvek, 8848 W. 92nd Place.
Fourth Ward
- 1st place: Al Kasper and Janice Mastro, 8310 W. 91st St.
- 2nd place: Paolo and Alyssa Puzzo, 8701 Oak Hill Court.
Two of the first-place winners, Al Kasper and Janice Mastro, and Beata Greczek, attended the meeting Thursday night at City Hall to accept their awards and a token of appreciation from the council for their community involvement.
The annual contest is hosted by the city council to encourage community participation and celebrate holiday spirit.
