Rosa Ortega Zamora, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Clearing community in Chicago, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, at the age of 94.

She was born on March 1, 1930, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Manuel and Micaela Zamora. Rosa embodied strength and grace throughout her life. She was the beloved wife of the late Agustin Ortega and a dedicated mother to her children, Maria, Rita, Lucy, Tino, Gerardo, and the late Jesus. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love enriched the lives of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched profoundly.

Rosa was known for her resilience and unwavering commitment to her family. She served as a guiding force in the lives of those around her, and her legacy of love and determination inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation was held on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. A second visitation took place on Thursday, January 2, from 9:30 a.m. until prayers at 10:45 a.m. A procession followed to St. Daniel the Prophet Church for an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial. Rosa was laid to rest beside her husband at Resurrection Cemetery.

The memory of Rosa Ortega Zamora remained a source of comfort and strength to her family and friends, who carried her love in their hearts forever.
