
John “Coachie” Bernard Sintich, 78, died at home on December 11, 2024.
Born on July 1, 1946, in Pola, Crest (Trieste), Italy, to Giovanni and Antonia (nee Cossi) Sintich, John grew to be a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid football enthusiast, wine connoisseur, and a cherished member of the Chicago Lawn Ski Club.
John proudly served his country as a member of the 4th Infantry Division from December 20, 1965, to December 19, 1971. During his service, he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, and the Marksmanship Medal. He was a proud graduate of Robert Lindblom High School, Class of 1965.
John is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carol; sons Jason (Amanda) and Mark (Sarah); daughters Diane (Daniel), Robin, Kathleen (Kevin), and Jennifer (Edward); sister Wilma (Dinco); brother Frank; grandchildren Elise, Rilynn, Rebecca (Nicholas), Kendall (Scott), Joseph, Lane (Nicole), Madison, Emily, and Katie; great-grandchildren Walker and Leone; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giovanni and Antonia Sintich, and his brother, Silvano (Bev).
A celebration of life was held on December 16 at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Hwy., Palos Hills, followed by a Mass at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment took place at St. Casimir Cemetery.
