DAVID DARRELL BONBRAKE

David Darrell Bonbrake, 62, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on September 19, 2024. Services will be private.

David was born in Oak Park to the late William Jospeh Bonbrake and Dorothy Mae Richardson. He graduated from Argo Community High School in 1980. David was a truck driver for more than 30 years having worked for Village of Summit Public Works for many years as a truck driver, and different maintenance jobs in public works. He enjoyed playing softball, riding his Harley and spending time with his wife, she is his best friend. They moved to Macon in March of 2023 to be close to family and have really enjoyed living here.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rhonda Bonbrake; daughter, Jennifer Torres (Frank) of Chicago; son, Adam Bonbrake, of Chicago; stepsons, Kyle Lovett (Kristen) of Summit, and Richard Lovett (Sommer) of Brookfield; grandchildren, Xavier Bermudez and Zoe Lovett of Brookfield; mother, Dorothy Mae Bonbrake; brothers, Bill Bonbrake (Annette Barnett) of Macon, and Jim “Jr” Bonbrake (Jane Ann) of Juliette, Georgia; sister-in-law, Renee Sebek of Las Vegas; nieces and nephews, Joclyn Poff (Matt), James Jospeh Bonbrake (Alex), Jordan Bonbrake, Jonathon Bonbrake (Halee), Jacob Bonbrake (Cami), Joshua Bonbrake, Jessie Grace Bonbrake, Julia Hope Bonbrake, Joy Bonbrake, Jerushah Bonbrake, and Julianna Bonbrake, Traci Jo Geib (Phillip) and Alan Ingram of Las Vagas; and extended family and friends.

Jose H. Carrera who was born on December 8, 1973, passed away on September 21, 2024 at the age of 50.

Tadeusz Gabrys, age 68, passed away on September 9, 2024.

Beloved husband of Zdzislawa Gabrys (nee Paluch); loving father of David (Gabriela) Gabrys, Joanna (Eric) Gabrielson and Marzena (Jeff) Surdej; dearest grandfather of Emma Gabrys, Lily Gabrys and Mateo Surdej; cherished son of the late Stefania (nee Potoniec) and the late Jozef Gabrys; dear brother of Maria Renata (Stanislaw) Lukaszyk, Janina Glowacka, Zofia Gasienica-Kleryk, Grazyna (Andrzej)Gasienica-Jackow, Wladyslaw (Czeslawa) Gasienica-Kleryk and the late Franciszek Gasienica-Kleryk. Conrado Garcia Jr., age 50, of Justice, passed away September 10, 2024.

Born on July 2, 1974, Conrado was a beloved son of the late Narcedalia Botello, stepson to David Botello, brother to Vanessa Botello-Cortez and Melissa Solis-Botello, and nephew, uncle, cousin and cherished friend to many.

His joy and laughter will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy of love, kindness, and resiliency will continue to live in all of our hearts. We are comforted knowing that you will finally be together with Mom and that your heart will be whole again. May you rest in peace, Jr. knowing that we destroyed your phone. “Take it easy, take it easy.”

GuzmanROBERTO GUZMAN

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Roberto Guzman.

Beloved son of Maria Guzman and the late Jose Guzman; dearest brother of Ricky (Christine) Guzman; preceded in death by his brother Junior and his sister Sally; father of Desire, Tessa, Priscilla, Reyna, Roberto Jr., Roselani and the late Sienna. A devoted Chicago sports fan with an enormous personality, he was funny, generous, and had an infectious smile that would light up a room. Roberto will be terribly missed by his family, his fiancée Patricia, his friends and so many others. Loved by all who knew and respected him he was one a kind. He will remain in everyone’s heart and memory forever.

Visitation was held September 25 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation September 26 until time of Prayers. Procession from the funeral home to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Roberto was laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.

Madeline F. Hencinski, age 96, passed away September 1, 2024.

Beloved widow of the late Richard Hencinski; loving sister of Dorothy L. (the late Charles) Roeback; dear aunt of John (Diane) Roeback and Nancy Roeback. Also survived by many great-nieces and nephews.

HernandezPRISCILLA “CHRIS” M. HERNANDEZ

Priscilla “Chris” M. Hernandez, 94, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 20, 1930, in Bernalillo, New Mexico, she was the cherished daughter of Trinidad and Lucy Hernandez. In 1949, the family moved to Chicago, where Priscilla made her home for the rest of her life.

After graduating from high school, Priscilla attended Secretary School, excelling in speed writing, shorthand, typing, and dictation. Her career began as an executive secretary at Montgomery Ward, eventually transitioning into purchasing and a supervisory role, where she made a significant impact. She continued to work until her retirement at 62 to care for her beloved mother.

Priscilla was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was known for her quick wit, infectious laughter, sharp intellect, and her love of music and movies of all genres. A lifelong animal lover, she was a benefactor of various charities, including those serving the less fortunate and organizations like the ASPCA and Humane Society.

As the firstborn of seven children, Priscilla is survived by her sister, Emily Gould of Wood Dale, Illinois, and three generations of nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.

A funeral mass was held on Friday, September 27, at St. Richard’s Parish, followed by a chapel service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Szykowny Funeral Home, 4901 S. Archer Ave., Funeral Director Jonathan Siedlecki.

Genevieve Irizarry (nee DiPietro), age 100, passed away September 3, 2024.

Widow of the late Edward J. Irizarry; loving mom of Edward Jr., Joseph (Michelle), Anthony (Karen), Thomas, Angela and James; dearest grandmother of Christopher, Anthony Jr., Matthew and Michael; cherished daughter of the late Salvatore and Natalina DiPietro; fond sister of the late Francesca (Bob) Leach, the late Carl (Josephine), the late Vera (Mickey) Hargarten, John (Shirley) and Sam (Mary).

JOHN ANDREW KASMAN

John Andrew Kasman, 83, of Palos Heights, passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with metastatic cancer.

Born May 15, 1941, in Chicago to Margaret (Rosmis) and John Christopher Kasman, John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Merrill.

He grew up on the South Side of Chicago, near the original White Sox home. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School and earned a degree in industrial engineering from the Industrial Engineering College of Chicago. While at the University of Dayton, John met Marilyn Lowe, and they married on April 20, 1963, building a life together in Oak Lawn, where they were active members of St. Linus Catholic Church.

John is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and children, Beverly (Jerry) Schatte, Barbara (Mark) Sowske, and John (Christine) Kasman, along with eight grandchildren.

In 1973, John and Marilyn founded Aero Rubber Company, which thrived due to John’s dedication. He cherished time with family, enjoying holidays, vacations to Clearwater Beach, and cheering on the Bears.

In his leisure time, John enjoyed collecting antique English sports cars and attending car shows with friends. He also loved collecting antiques including his beautiful collection of clocks and bookcases. He had a passion for music, barbecues, and family gatherings, all of which brought him great joy.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at St. Alexander Church in Palos Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated. A balloon release will follow to honor John’s belief that no celebration is complete without balloons.

Pamela Marie Ketza, age 64, passed away September 2, 2024.

Loving mom of Dan (Amy) Ketza, Dave (Andrea) Ketza, Kayla Ketza, Kyle (Kelly) Ketza; dear grandmother of Leah, Ethan, Kami, Brady, Hannah, Kayleigh, and Averey; fond sister of Richie, Andy (Marilou), Sandy, Shannon, John and the late Karen; great friend of Joseph; loving daughter of Andrew and Mary Ann Moisan and step-daughter of the late Ido Mosain.  Also survived by aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pamela has lived in the Bridgeview area for over 30 years. She loved her family more than anything, she was a sucker for a good singing show with her amazing voice. She was a kind, loving, and beautiful soul. Pamela loved making flower arrangements. One thing that she did love was a good steak with all the fixings. Most importantly, she loved her cat Emmett.

Newton Wayne Shelly, Sr., age 84, long time resident of Bridgeview, passed away August 29, 2024.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Lou (nee Fliehler); loving dad of Wayne Jr. (Dawn) Shelly, Kristie (Mark) Albrecht, Keith (Lisa) Shelly and Scott Shelly; dear grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 12; loving son of the late Merlee Alice (nee Quinn) and the late Newton Lorenzo Shelly; fond brother of the late Brenda Ross and the late Jerry (Jimmie) Shelly. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Newton Wayne Shelly was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 731 and lifetime member of Teamsters Local 714.
