Two men have been charged in connection with a break-in last month at the Pick-n-Pull used auto parts store and junkyard in Summit.

George Ainalakis, 39, of Carol Stream, was arrested February 26 at the business, while Chad Wickert, 40, of Brookfield, was arrested March 13 by Hodgkins police.

Police said they were called to the Pick-n-Pull, 7800 W. 61st Place, about 3:15 a.m. on February 26 to investigate a report of two men wearing dark clothing inside the business.

Upon arrival, officers observed a point of entry was cut in the fence surrounding the business.

Officers said they interrupted two men in the act of cutting a catalytic converter from a vehicle.

One suspect, identified as Ainalakis, was taken into custody at the scene. The second man was able to avoid arrest, but was identified as Wickert by the officers from previous contacts.

Ainalakis was subsequently charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and had an outstanding warrant from DuPage County for a failure to appear.

After Wickert was taken into custody by Hodgkins police, Summit officers presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office at which time felony charges were approved.

Wickert was charged and processed for burglary and possession of burglary tools.
