The Chicago Christian defense forced eight turnovers and the offense exploded as the Knights began their season with a victory for the eighth consecutive campaign.
Niko Griggs posted 8 ½ tackles, Brock Sperling had three tackles-for-loss, Christian Flutman snagged two interceptions and Caden Boersma also had a pick for Chicago Christian.
Flutman also threw for 214 yards and a score on 16-of-23 passing. Kenny Jager finished with 15 carries for 178 yards and three TDs, and Boersma had 11 catches for 163 yards.
The Knights’ last opening-week loss, including the spring 2021 “Covid” season, was a 28-26 defeat to Bulls College Prep in 2016.
