Palos Park Clerk Marie Arrigoni announced that appointments for the one-day mobile Department of Motor Vehicles visit to Village Hall are sold out.

That’s bad news for those residents who were looking forward to taking care of DMV business right there in town. But it was good news to Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters.

“We’re very excited that we were able to get the Secretary of State to come right here,” she said at the July 8 village council meeting. “I’m excited that all of the appointments are full.

“Hopefully that means we will get to host it again in the future.”

Residents who are looking for an I-Pass transponder do not need an appointment and they can show up to obtain one. The mobile DMV will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 15 at Village Hall, 8999 W. 123rd St.

Those who have appointments can take care of obtaining driver’s licenses, state identifications, vehicle registration stickers and other services.

Other business

  • The village will appropriate $103,075 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for maintaining village streets from May 1 to April 30, 2025.
  • Tennis/pickleball courts plus the basketball courts at Village Green are ready to be painted and appear to be on track to be ready by fall.
  • Milovich-Walters gave a shout out to 13-year-old resident Mariah Saban Rice, who has been selected to perform with the Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra at the National Seminario Ravinia, which was scheduled to take place July 10 at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park.
  • The council meeting on July 9 lasted just 14 minutes, which longtime commissioner Dan Polk said was a record for shortest meeting.
