The popular Music in the Park series will begin a six-week run on July 10 at Veterans Park in Lyons.
Bands will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. each Wednesday through Aug. 14, said Ted Tale, director of parks and recreation for the village.
Each night will “feature a vendor with food (prices) to be discounted by the village,” he said.
This year’s series is shorter than the eight weeks of music in 2023.
“We wanted it shorter this year because our attendance seems to be lower when we have eight (nights). We wanted it to end when the kids go back to school,” Tala said.
Here’s the lineup:
- Fuze Band will play rock and Latin music on July 10.
- Jolly Ringwalds will play classic rock along with hits from the 1980s and 1990s on July 17.
- Rosalba Valdez will play Latin pop on July 24.
- Eddie Korosa, Jr., will play polka music on his accordion on July 31.
- Zorila will play alternative rock, pop and party anthems on Aug. 7.
- The Redmonds will play classic rock on Aug. 14 to close the series.
Several of the bands have performed before at Music in the Park. Korosa has been a frequent flier.
“We’re bringing polka back on high demand from the Lyons Retirees,” Tala said regarding a popular social club for seniors that is sponsored by the village.
It’s a good idea to bring lawn or bag chairs as the pavilion seats tend to fill up quickly. Coolers and food are welcome.
The park is on the west side of Lawndale Avenue, north of the village hall and south of Ogden Avenue. There’s plenty of parking nearby.
