Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all on the 17th. “I-Rish you luck”!

Two days later, we cannot forget the tireless worker and patron saint of fathers – Happy St. Joseph’s Day on the 19th.

We also should remember to vote in the primary election as well on that Tuesday.

There is always something happening at our Archer Heights Branch Library. If you age 18 and over and need help with technology, it is available. Visit on Monday, March 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. with questions on basic computing and even mobile devices.

I remember as a child I would love to paint with watercolors. There will be a watercolor paint event for children ages 3 and up on from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the library.

This Friday, March 15, the Hispanic community of St. Bruno and St. Richard Parish will offer a Lenten dinner at St. Richard Church Hall, 50th and Kenneth. Dinner is served from 4 to 7 p.m. For just $12 you can choose from cheese enchiladas or tilapia. Those are both served with rice, salad and dessert. Children’s items are also available.

My neighbor, Maria, makes for us during Lenten Fridays a variety of delicious fish soups. But on Friday, March 8 she made for us vegetable tamales. They were so delicious. Thank you, Maria.

Time is quickly passing. Soon it will be Palm Sunday.

The Archer Heights Civic Association is holding their annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30. The AHCA has been holding this event for more than 55 years. That is amazing. The hunt is open to children living in Archer Heights and will be held at Archer Park, 4901 S. Kilbourn. The field house will open at 9:30 a.m., and the festivities start at 10. Peter Rabbit will be present; so parents, remember to bring your cameras and an empty bag or basket for the goodies that can be found or won.

There is a Rosary Club at Sts. Bruno & Richard School. What the students have done is create a large rosary, which is quite the monumental display of their faith. It is proudly showcased in the main hallway. The rosary display is a testament to their spirit of collaboration.

West of us, The Chicago Working Families’ Archer Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade is this Saturday, March 16, stepping off at noon. The parade travels from Oak Park to Narragansett along Archer. There is community expo being held that day over at 56th and Mobile at Kinzie School. Vendors will be on hand to display their wares from noon to 3 p.m. So, make a day of it over in Garfield Ridge.

Happy Birthday to our neighbor on the block: baby Santiago. He turned 2 this week.
