After back-to-back Class 3A state titles in 2022 and 2023, Nazareth jumped to Class 4A this season and did not miss a beat. The Roadrunners cruised to 37 straight victories heading into their sectional championship matchup with Mount Carmel. The Caravan scored two late runs in a tight contest and advanced to the supersectional round with a 5-3 victory.
Baseball is baseball to Roadrunners’ head coach Lee Milano. No matter the class, he knows his team will be able to compete.
“We play 4A schools, we play 3A schools,” he said. “It is a non-factor.”
The loss to the Caravan stings for Nazareth, and especially their seniors, but they will not forget the memories and the history they made together.
“Practices, the games, the state championships… I won’t forget any of these four years of my life,” Roadrunners catcher Malamazian said. “The impact that this team had me, that Coach Milano and the other coaches had on me, it’s special. They made a huge impact on my life and I won’t forget it.”
