Sonia Anne Khalil, who lost to Rick Ryan in the Democratic primary for the 36th House, was far from dejected Tuesday night.
“It’s okay,” she said during a gathering at the Qamaria Yemeni coffee shop in Chicago Ridge.
Khalil, 34, said she and her supporters “organized in four months and I thought we did a great job.”
“The last four months, I’ve had the honor to travel through the district, spoke with thousands of voters about issues that affect their everyday lives,” she said. “We came up short, but I’m proud of my campaign and the message we sent out that the community will not be taken for granted.”
Asked if she plans to run for office again, Khalil smiled and replied “TBD.”
