Moves up time for May 1 village board meeting

By Steve Metsch

Bridgeview is getting a new automotive repair shop.

The village board at its April 17 matinee meeting approved a special use permit that will allow a repair shop at 9010 S. Beloit Ave.

There was no discussion among trustees.

The board followed the recommendation of the village’s zoning, planning and development commission.

On April 12, the commission recommended approval of the special-use permit for the shop that will be owned by Tadeusz Fit.

There are some limitations that have to be followed.

The business will not be allowed to store vehicles outside overnight, and will only be allowed to work on vehicles they have acquired privately off-site, not on vehicles brought there by the public.

The business will only have two employees, and “for sale” signs will not be allowed on any vehicles.

In other business, the village board unanimously approved moving its next meeting to noon on May 1, rather than the usual 7 p.m. start.

The village’s first meeting each month is usually at 7 p.m.

Village Clerk John Altar said a noon start was needed because several board members had “prior commitments” later that day.
