Crete Emergency Management Agency Director Ryan Allison honored exceptional service to EMA members during the March 24 village board meeting.

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to five outstanding team members, each of whom served over 100 hours in 2024.

Deputy Director Paul Vanderaa – 154 hours

Captain Doug Blake – 281 hours

Sergeant Keith Miller Sr. – 172 hours

Responder Stacey Skaggs – 140 hours

Responder James Walters – 201 hours

“These dedicated individuals are part of the Crete EMA team, working year-round to help prepare for emergencies, coordinate disaster response, support recovery efforts, and so much more for the Crete community,” he said.

“We deeply appreciate their service!”

In addition to a reminder that EMA was hosting an Open House on March 29,  Allison also reported that EMA attended three drills, training sessions and classes, as well as two facility equipment and maintenance sessions in February.

At the same time, they responded to five assists to the Crete Fire Department, two Mutual Aid requests, one request from Will County EMA to assist in a Search and Rescue in Crete Township, and one request from Monee EMA for assistance with a Missing Person/Search and Rescue.

Allison also reported that a Jackery Battery Back-Up system has been installed by Jennings Electric. He said it will serve as a UPS and back-up “for a few key rooms at the EMA facility.

“Jackery donated this unit to us and also covered installation,” he noted.
