A woman was trapped in her car after crashing into a restaurant Tuesday night in Bridgeview.
Sources said the woman was believed to have exited the parking lot of Midland Federal Savings and Loan, 8929 S. Harlem Ave., hit the accelerator and lost control before crashing through a wall at the View restaurant, 8930 S. Harlem.
The restaurant shut down a few weeks ago, so it was empty at the time.
The driver was considered critical and had part of her leg severed in the crash, sources said.
An accident reconstruction team was called to the scene and Harlem Avenue was closed in both directions.
