One man was shot and another is in police custody after a shooting Tuesday morning in an industrial area in Bridgeview.
Police said the incident took place outside Filta Environmental at 8908 S. Octavia Ave., a few blocks west of Harlem Avenue and just south of the Rosebud Mobile Home Park.
According to police, a man who was recently fired from Filta Environmental went to the site Tuesday after making threatening social media posts on Monday.
During an exchange with other employees outside the workplace, the former employee pulled a weapon. An employee at the scene, who has a valid concealed carry license, then drew his own weapon.
Police said shots were fired, and the former employee was hit. He was taken by paramedics to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with two gunshot wounds to his torso. He was reported in stable but critical condition at the hospital.
The shooter had two weapons on him and was taken into police custody. No charges have been filed, and police are still investigating.
Police said they believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the community. No one else was injured.
