With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Firkins, 82, of Bedford Park, Illinois. She passed away peacefully on Feb. 20, 2025, joining her late parents, Odie and Eva Hoover.
Ruth’s life was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, always making each interaction personal by learning names and details. She will be remembered for the way she lived—cherishing the outdoors and sunshine, spending time with friends and family, and walking along her favorite beaches.
She was deeply involved in social clubs across the country, including the Anna Maria Island Moose Club, the Bedford Park Women’s Club, and the Local 710 Pioneers Club. Her extended family and network of friends, though too numerous to name, held a very special place in her heart.
Ruth’s memory lives on through her family: sons Ted Willingham and Christopher Firkins; grandchildren Carrie Willingham (Stephen Simms), Shannon Spingola (Michael), Elijah Willingham, Noah Firkins (Kassidy), and Reilly Firkins; and great-grandson Cameron Firkins.
Per Ruth’s wishes, no services were held before her being laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Billy Graham Ministries or the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois.
