Betty Jane Nowak (née Czajkoski), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Betty was the devoted wife of 53 years to her loving husband, Gregg Nowak, with whom she built a life filled with love and shared moments. She was a dedicated mother to her sons, Richard, Russell (Carrie), and Ronald (Carrie), who brought her endless joy and pride. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her treasured grandchildren: Corinne, Ricky, Caitlynn, Ella, and Reid, each of whom she adored wholeheartedly.
Born to Ann and Frank Czajkoski, Betty was raised in a close-knit family. She was the dear sister of JoAnn Mazurek (late Bob) and was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Czajkoski (Verna) and Tom Czajkoski. She was also a cherished sister-in-law to Edward (Cindy) Nowak, Teresa Klimek-Downs, and the late Marian Pietruszka, as well as a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Betty worked as an administrative assistant for more than 30 years at Indian Springs School District #109. She will always be remembered for her unwavering love for family and friends, her warm and generous heart, and the countless ways she brought light and joy to those around her. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, cherishing every moment with those she loved.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem) in Summit, Illinois, on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. A procession will follow to Resurrection Cemetery, Garden Mausoleum, where Betty will be laid to rest.
