Chicago Ridge and Palos Park recognized three police officers last week for their critical role in stopping an armed suspect who had terrorized communities across the southwest suburbs and was believed responsible for two carjackings and a kidnapping.
During a presentation at the Feb. 18 Chicago Ridge Village Board meeting, Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich Walters, Palos Park Police Commissioner Dan Polk, and Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller commended Chicago Ridge Police Officer Brendan A’Hearn and his K-9 partner, Storm, along with Sgt. Dave Jenen and Officer John Glover, for their teamwork in tracking and apprehending the suspect on Dec. 17, 2024.
Polk detailed how, during the early morning hours of Dec. 17, a woman was carjacked and kidnapped from the 12100 block of 80th Avenue in Palos Park. After a delayed report, Chicago Ridge police were notified and immediately activated their investigative team, coordinating with multiple jurisdictions to track the suspect.

“Chicago Ridge Police Officer Brendan A’Hearn and his trusty steed, his trusty K-9 Storm, along with Chicago Ridge Police Sgt. Dave Jenen and Officer John Glover, initiated safety measures,” Polk said. “They were able to stop and engage the suspect.”
The suspect, who was armed and had committed two armed carjackings and a kidnapping within 12 hours, was considered a serious threat to public safety.
“All patrol units realized that in the interest of public safety, he had to be stopped before his criminal actions placed more people in danger,” Polk said.
According to Polk, the suspect had fled into Crestwood after carjacking a second vehicle in Worth. Chicago Ridge officers, along with police from Palos Park, Crestwood, Posen, and Blue Island, worked together to track and apprehend him. Officers recovered the second stolen car and a loaded firearm during the arrest.
Polk emphasized the importance of these highly trained officers and their ability to work across agencies, thanking the Chicago Ridge team for their role in stopping the suspect.
“We are grateful to your officers and your team here for helping arrest this offender,” Polk said. “Sergeant Jenen and Officer Glover are in the finest tradition of police service, and they are ready to serve you here in Chicago Ridge.”
The presentation concluded with letters of commendation for the officers and a special acknowledgment for K-9 Officer Storm, recognizing their work in preserving the peace and keeping the community safe.
