On February 12, Peotone Police observed a shattered window at a business in the 400 block of S. Governors Highway. Upon stopping to investigate, officers noted the entrance door was locked, and no entry had been made, as the damage did not fully breach the glass. The business owner arrived on the scene, and officers reviewed available security footage. A State Police ISPERN broadcast was issued with the gathered information. Peotone Officers documented the scene with photos and filed an initial report. The case remains under investigation by Peotone Police Investigations. It should also be noted several surrounding communities had similar incidents.
On February 13, while on patrol, Peotone Police came upon a property damage accident at Wilmington-Peotone and Rathje Roads that had just occurred. Officers confirmed no injuries were reported and gathered statements from the involved drivers. Necessary information was documented for the completion of the property damage accident report.
Super Bowl Weekend Traffic Enforcement
Over Super Bowl weekend, Peotone Police Officers working under a STEP Grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation conducted traffic enforcement, resulting in the following citations:
• Seatbelt Violations – 5
• Child Safety Seat Violations – 1
• Electronic Communication Device Violations – 1
• Other Traffic Citations – 5
