Helen Zaborniak, 95, of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community, died peacefully at home on Feb. 3, 2025, five days after celebrating her birthday.

She was married for 51 years to the love of her life, Alfred “Al” Zaborniak, until his death in 2002. She was the loving mother of Gregory (Mary) and Michael (Barbara) Zaborniak; the dear grandmother of Mark (Kelly) and Eric (Hannah); and the cherished great-grandmother of Tyson and Cecilia. She was the beloved sister of Edward (Joan) Rosmus and was preceded in death by her siblings, Lottie (Rudolph) Mrozek and Lillian (William) Szendzial. She was also a fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Zaborniak was a devoted member of St. Joseph Ladies of the Rosary and St. Joseph’s Choir and a proud member of Teamsters Union Local 710. She lived her life with love, courage, dignity, and pride.

Her family expressed deep gratitude to her caregivers—Carol, Cindy, Ana, Samantha, Amanda, and Violet—as well as Gentiva Hospice, for their compassionate care.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, following prayers at Foran Funeral Home. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Resurrection Cemetery.
